Long time ago, Leprosy Control had been initiated by Dutch during its occupation in Indonesia period. Dr B. Zuiderhoek compiled the information of leprosy control by using the available references.
After the independence of Indonesia 1945, the leprosy control was developed systematically based on the development of leprosy treatment and WHO recommendation.
Indonesia has achieved the elimination of leprosy in 2000, means that the national registered prevalence rate less than 1 case per 10,000 population.
