Dr. Kamal Mahmoed: 1966 – 1969
The National Leprosy Control Program was placed under the Directorate General for the Development of Health (Direktorat Jenderal Bina Waluya).
Up to 1968 people with leprosy were treated in special leprosy clinics, separated from people with general diseases. Mono DDS was still used for treatment.
In 1969 a government policy stipulated that doctors had to do compulsory work in Health Centres (HCs). Since then, leprosy treatment was gradually integrated in the Health Centre services and special leprosy clinics were closed one by one. People with leprosy were no longer isolated.
