Tenggarong Leprosy Hospital, 2003
The Tenggarong leprosy hospital consists of the hospital itself and the leprosy village surrounding the hospital. The owner of this hospital and its leprosy village is government of East Kalimantan. It is situated about 6 km from Tenggarong the capital of Tenggarong district and about 35 km from Samarinda the capital of East Kalimanatan. At present there are 15 ex-leprosy patients in total staying in the -20-bed hospital (3 of them are still on MDT, 12 ex-leprosy patients with social indication).
There were 20 couples of ex-leprosy patients and 11 couples of normal people inhabiting the village surrounding the hospital. In total there are 123 inhabitants live in the leprosy village. The people in the village have self-reliant. They are cultivating the land and woks integrated with normal people in the surrounding communities. There is no finance or donation provided by the government for the people in the leprosy village.
